Why we chose them
From Cropwell Bishop, Stilton cheese is a family story, today it is the third generation. The company, that is placed in Nottingham (in the beautiful
valley of Belvoir), today is managed by two cousins, Robin and Ben Skailes, together with their respective fathers, called David and Ian. Their
grandfathers taught the making of Stilton cheese to them: in fact Skailes family dedicate themselves to Stilton cheese production for over 160
years.
Stilton cheese and Blue Shropshire make by Cropwell Bishop Creamery are considered among the best in England and they won a lot of awards:
quality is given from the quality of the milk that they use, from the experience of cheesemakers and from the observance of the traditional method of
production that Ben and Robin learned from them grandfathers.
Whole begin from the milk quality, that is picked up from 12 family farms in the region. The company is deeply integrate in the territory: most of
employees lives around to it, in the Cropwell Bishop village. Some employees work in the cheese factory for over 25 years and they are considered
like a family member. Mario is the head cheesemaker, he works with Skailes family for over 30 years.
