A Bruna cow in the pasture of Malga Mariech

The last month, together with our agent Mauro Piovan and some of his customers of Padova, we’ve been visiting Malga Mariech – on Cesen mountain in the municipality of Valdobbiadene – run in summer by Curto family, also responsible for the farm Ponte Vecchio Vidor.

Fabio Curto and his brother Stefano, who represent the fourth generation of the family dedicated to cheese production, accompanied us in a tour of their malga.

We’ve visited the milking area, the processing area of the milk coming from the “vacca bruna” breed that graze just in Alpeggio and the cellars for aging.

During these months the cow’s milk is particularly rich, with a pleasant light-straw colour and more perfumes complexity due to the various flowers and essences present in the pastures.

This milk allows to have a very different production from winter and for this the Curto family decided to develop a new project: differentiate the Malga Mariech production with a green brand indicating “Fatto in Quota 1504”.

With this new project, the welcome initiatives and the philosophy based on the concept of union between innovation and tradition that accompanies the Curto family, Malga Mariech today is an Alpeggio that pays attention to the environment, to the renewed craftsmanship, to safeguard the old knowledge and the short chain.
